How often does my Chimney need sweeping?
This will depend on a number of factors which include the type of fuel used, appliance, duration of use, moisture content of wood fuel, and the type of chimney you have. A rough guide would be:-
Smokeless fuel: At least once a year
Wood: Quarterly when in use
Bituminous coal: Quarterly when in use
WHY DO I NEED TO HAVE MY CHIMNEY / FLUE SWEPT?
Regular sweeping removes soot and blockages. It also removes creosote which will help prevent a chimney fire.
Preparing for the sweeping appointment
Appliances must not be used at all in the 24 hours leading up to an appointment. Please remove any debris and ash from the fire grate so it is clear. We will require working space in front of the fireplace, so please move any items from the hearth and coffee tables.
We are very careful and clean and like to leave your stove cleaner than we found it but we can not guarantee that soot will not escape. Especially if the appliance has not been installed correctly or swept frequently. We recommend that you do cover soft furnishings if possible
Stove Servicing
We also offer stove servicing and maintenance which includes replacing rope seals, cleaning glass and respraying the stove if possible. When we leave stove really will look like new and the results are exceptional. You can return home to a perfect, clean and happy stove which is safe, secure as ready to get back to heating your home.
